Failure ~ Jester


Like a jester,
whose jokes never land,
whose truths get him
locked in jail;
whose jangly-belled hat 
is always crooked
atop his misshapen head;
whose back is sore
from bowing to his betters;
I lie sleeplessly
on the stone floor of this
slimy dungeon,
telling stories to the wall
in the hopes
that one day
I will make it laugh.
